Abstract

CsA is an important immunosuppressive drug used in transplantation and treatment of some diseases but have many adverse effects decreasing its clinical use e.g cardiotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, hypertension and hepatotoxicity.
LA is an essential compound that present naturally in physiological system as a cofactor of mitochondrial multienzyme complexes that are involved in energy production. LA was shown to have antioxidant potential role.
Eicosapentaenoic acids are a natural extract of salmon that reduce the risk of thrombosis; its consumption reduces endogenouns thromboxane A2 and PGE2 production by replacement of membrane phospholipids arachidonic acid with long chain ω-3 fatty acids.
The aim of this work is to study the protective effect α-LA and ω-3 fatty acids on chronic CsA induced nephrotoxicity and cardio- toxicity.
