Abstract Title: Evaluation of some therapeutic effects of marine algae. By: Abeer Ahmed Abd El-Aziz Khider For: The Degree of Ph.D. in Home Economics (Nutrition of Food Science). This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of Egyptian brown algae and algae mixture collected from sea shore on the improving lipid profile, glucose level, liver functions, kidney functions, complete blood cells, relative organs weight, body weight gain %, feed efficiency ratio and Pb (lead) level in serum and some internal organs of hypercholesterolemic rats, diabetic rats, hyperuricemic rats, rats inflicted with ARF and Pb poisoned rats. The results showed that the diet containing brown algae or the random sample of algae mixture revealed distinct improvements in glucose level, liver functions, kidney functions, lipid profile,complete blood count, body weight gain % and feed efficiency ratio. Also, marine algae was a good help in the limitation of Pb from serum and internal organs. |
