Abstract In the present work nutritional and health status of 33 patients (17 males and 16 females)on maintenance haemodialysis were assessed by performing anthropometric measurements [(Height, Weight,Body mass index (BMI),Triceps skinfold (T.S.T),Arm circumference (AC)and Arm muscle circumference (AMC)]related biochemical analysis (Hemoglobin,Urea,Creatinine,AST,ALT, Sodium,Potassium,Calcium and Phosphorus). Subjects were pre and post tested by constructed interviewing questionnaire sheet used to collect demographic and medical data in addition to knowledge about diet.Moreover assessment sheet was used to assess patients nutritional&biochemical analysis.Patients were given nutrition counseling and prescribed diet contained 1.2 g protein /kg /day of good sources.Findings revealed that there was an improvement inpatient’s nutritional status and biochemical analysis after conducting the program. In conclusion the study findings pointed out that specified nutritional program containing high protein of good sources have a positive impact on nutritional and health status of patients with chronic renal failure on haemodialysis. Replication of the study on larger sample and long duration is recommended. Key words : Nutrition–Meat protein-Chronic Renal Failure–Haemodialysis. |
