recently many egyptian tunnewls have been constructed for several purposes such as subways sewers and road tunnels part of the planned route of greater cairo metro-line-3 will pass above groundwater level keeping substantial distances between the tunnel and the adjacent buildings these conditions may promote the use of sprayed concrete lining method in parts of line-3 in this thesisproposed two-dimensional numerical model for the different stages of tunnelling was illustrated.
