Abstract Aim of the work The aim of this work is to define the presence of liver affection through assessment of clinical picture, abnormality of liver function tests, and histopathological study of the liver biopsy in patients with connective tissue diseases and to detect the source as well as the significance of these abnormalities. Conclusions Liver involvement in the connective tissue disease is not uncommon. The liver involvement ranged from minimal elevation of the liver enzymes to histopathological changes (minimal alteration, non specific reactive changes, piece meal necrosis, nodular regenerative hyperplasia and fibrosis). Autoimmune hepatitis can occur with the connective tissue diseases. It is important to distinguish autoimmune hepatitis from other forms of live affection because it is respond to corticosteroid treatment. So, early diagnosis with appropriate management can prolong survival, improve the quality life and differ liver transplantation. |
