Abstract Aim of the work To evaluate the role of CT in studying the normal anatomical details of the larynx and its variations. Conclusion Also the subglottic region was examined to detect any abnormalities like mucosal thickening as the mucosa here is intimately related to the cartilaginous framework represented by the cricoid cartilage at the subglottis. Calcification of the laryngeal cartilage is one of the important points in our study. Calcification could be detected above the age of 25 years and became completely ossified at the age of 55 years. This occurs in asymmetrical manner so this should not be considered as cartilaginous injury or trauma to the laryngeal cartilage. In this study, the lymph nodal drainage of the larynx was studied. As this study was done upon normal volunteers so no nodes could be detected. The lymph nodes bearing areas should be inferred as the lymph nodes are related to the internal jugular vein as superior, middle and inferior jagular nodes. |
