In the course of energy crisis in the late 20th century, and with the increase of environmental awareness, various countries sought to subjugate their resources; reduce energy consumption; and attempt to rely on renewable energy resources. In this setting, many research centers began to study daylighting, in order to reduce energy consumption and minimize harmful emissions. Studies proved that developed countries consume about 37% of energy in artificial lighting.
