Abstract

Schistosomiasis cases pathology in approximately 200 million individuals throughout the world . in Egypt, schistosomiasis is one of the major health problems . at the population level it affects man power and health , leading to severe morbidity and mortality among our population. Economically millions of Egyptian pounds are directed to disease control. Clinical disease is caused by a complex immunopathologic response to the parasite ova , which are deposited in the host tissues. This immunopathology is composed of two major elements, granuloma formation and hepatic fibrosis . antigen presenting ells and T-lymphocytes, with receptors for soluble egg antigen (SEA) are primarily responsible for the induction and regulation of the immunopathology through the production of cytokines and growth factors. These T cells are genetically heterogeneous in man
