Abstract

The optimum formulation of non-aqueous formula that exhibits low viscosity fluid behavior, for ease of spraying , is suggested to be : Carbomer 934 1.5gm NaOH .06gm propylene glycol 65.3gm glycerol formal 34.7gm when applied into the nasal cavity transformed to a highely viscous gel. because of the viscosity changes induced by a change in the solvent system composition of the polymeric formulation in the moisted nasal cavity, which enhanced the residence time of the drug at the site of absorption in order to avoid drainage losses. The mathematical treatment of the in-vitro release data of Vp-HCI from carbomer 934 gel preparation is in favor with a highuchi model kinetic.
