Abstract The objective of this work is to study the use of the cementation process for the recovery of silver ion from silver nitrate and silver cyanide waste solution. The study is presented through four chapters including general information about the cementation process, literature survey, mechanism of cementation reaction, experimental work, results and conclusions. The first chapter presents the introduction of cementation technology used for any heavy metals removal from waste water. The second chapter contains the experimental part which begins by specifying the raw material used in this work followed by the cementation of silver ion from silver nitrate or silver cyanide solution using aluminum ion, lead and copper as sacrificing materials. The variables auodied were pH, temperature and nitrogen flow rates. Experimental results were summarized and discussed in the third chapter from which the kinetics of reaction was obtained and the optimum recovery conditions were detected. The best results for silver ion recovery from synthetic silver nitrate containing 100mg/ 1 solution were found in case of using aluminum metal at 200 ml/min nitrogen flower rate, 60º C and pH =5.5. |
