Abstract

In the present study, we tried to investigate the effect of some ACE inhibitors (captopril and enalapril), allopurinol, and their combination on different models of experimentally induced gastric ulcers in albino rats and a trial was also done to elucidate the possible mechanisms by by which these drugs are producing their effect.
In this study was used 20 groups of albino rats which included 6 groups of rats.
The results showed that ACE inhibitors could be beneficial in management of cardiovascular diseases in patients laible for occurance of gastric ulceration as those subjected to stressful conditions or taking NSAIDs. Allopurinal also may give a benefit for patients with gouty arthritis using NSAIDs or costicosteroids. further clinical trials are needed to evaluate the cytoprotective roles of the tested drugs.
