Abstract

Based on extensive studies, it has been established that spermatogenesis is controlled by the two glycoprotein gonadotropins , luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) which are produced in the anterior pituitary gland. LH plays an indirect role in spermatogenesis in that it stimulates Leydig cells to produce testosterone (T). which along with FSH ( and may be other hormones e.g. GH and TSH) regulate spermatogenesis via sertoli cells. This study aimed at employing the recent stereological and morphomatric techniques to evaluate the structural and physiological changes of the testis under the effects of hormones controlling spermatogenesis .
