Abstract
Many forces have had an impact on the form of the city.
Digitization is the new factor that is affecting our built environment,
offering potentials that can directly affect man and city performance. The
following chapters will focus on the digital revolution and what it will do
to the city performance.
The digital era offers man and city opportunities, chances, choices
and alternatives that will help in better decision making, enhance city
living conditions, and govern schemes of space encounters. The
following will be an attempt to study the correct exploitation and
implementations of the digital opportunities offered by this era.
The following chapter will highlight the concept of the digital
cities, introducing its different typologies. In addition, new digital and
electronic visions will be stressed in order to have a full understanding of
how digital advances can integrate with the physical form of the city. The
chapter shall also reintroduce aspects that the digital city highly affected,
ending up with a scheme of how physical forms have digital parallels,
and how they can perform as a one entity.
