Abstract

The aim of the present study is to compare the results of the urinary markers (NMP-22, BTA), and the serum markers (TPA, CEA and CA19.9) in detecting bladder carcinoma.
A total of 89 male persons were submitted this study and were
classified into five groups. The first one included 20 patients suffered from urinary bilharziasis. Second group included 24 male patients suffering from bladder cancer in early grade. Third group included 25 patients suffering from bladder cancer in late
grade. Fourth group included 24 patients suffering from bladder
cancer in early stage. Fifth group included 25 patients suffering from bladder cancer in late stage. All groups compared with control group which included 20 healthy male persons cross matched with all patients of studied groups. As regard age, sex
and race.
Our study showed that there was a highly significant elevation of NMP-22, BTA in urine and TPA, CEA and CA19-9 in serum of bladder cancer patients. Only BTA can differentiate between
both early and late grades and stages. NMP-22 and TPA can differentiate between early and late grades only.
