Abstract
This study carried on 80 pregnant patients in the third trimester on Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital. The aim of the work is to evaluate the serum leptin levels in the third
trimester of pregnancy as a marker of preeclampsia.
The total number of eighy women was included and divided into:
Group (1): (control group) will include 40 pregnant ladies with no preeclampasia.
Group (2): (study group) 40 preeclamptic patients subdivided
into two groups:-
- Group( 2a): including 20 case of mild preeclampsia.
- Group( 2b): including 20 case of server preeclampsia.
Patients selected for this study fulfillied the following inclusion
criteria:
1- Single viable pregnancy.
2- Getaional age of 26-40 weeks
The following patients were excluded:
1 - Patients in labour.
2 - Obese patients
3 - Patients with any known medical diseases as essential hyper
tension diabetes mellitus (DM), hepatic patients, renal patients, cardiac patients, SLE and patient with any medical disease affecting the results.
4 - Patient with multiple pregnancies.
