: The present study was carried out to demonstrate the effects of acute and chronic administration of urocortin on blood coagulation and fibrinolysis.
Materials and methods :rats were divided into two main groups
• Group A The first main group(30 rats), to study the effect of Ucn-I on coagulation and fibrinolysis
• Group B The second main group (6 rats), to study the in vitro effect of Ucn-I on platelet aggregation.
Group A was further subdivided into six equal subgroups(n=6):
In all groups the BT was measured and then blood samples were collected from sinus orbitus vein of animals into centrifugation tubes containing:
• Sodium citrate for separation of plasma and determination of PT, aPTT, D dimer, , Prothrombin F1+2,
• EDTA for determination of platelet count.
• No anticoagulant for determination whole blood clotting time (WBCT).
As Urocortin proved to modulate the levels and functions of Ang., endothelin and interlukine and these parameters were separately reported to influence the heamostasis, therefore, the present study is aiming to determine whether experimental induction of acute and chronic increase in circulating urocortin levels cause changes in blood coagulation and fibrinolysis or not.
