The aim of this study was to assess knowledge, and practices of diabetic students, plan, implement and evaluate the effect of health educational intervention in improving student’s knowledge and self care practices. Subjects & Methods: A sample composed of (40) diabetic students i.e (20 control & 20 study groups) males and females attending on Health Insurance Diabetic Clinic for Schools in Zagazig City, Sharakia Govemorate. Three types of tools were used for data collecting were (1)- Interview questionnaire sheet to assess students knowledge and practice self care, (2)- Assessment sheet including (weight, height, glucose level in blood & urine), (3)- Health education program composed of two parts, theoritical part cover knowledge about diabetes and practical part concerned self care, blood & urine analysis for sugar. Result: This study revealed that about (55%) of both groups were females and, (45%) were males. Seventy and sixty percent of both groups were from low social class. And, self care practices were not performed by the majority of the studied subjects before implementation of health education program. There were significant differences between control and studied groups in relation to knowledge about diabetes and self care practices befor and after implementation of health education program. Thus, the study recommended that, providing health educations programs for diabetic students are essential and should be given through the media and through different health care settings. School nurses should be well trained to be able deal with this problem.
