Abstract To study the magnitude of contribution of helicobacter pylori infection to peptic ulcer disease, congestive gastropathy, bleeding from esophageal varices in patients with liver cirrhosis. and to study the effect of gastric inflammation and helicobacter pylori on cell adhesive molcules (E-cadherin and Beta catenin). 106 patients with liver cirrhosis and 50 controls without evidence of liver disease were included in aprospective study .second study was conducted paraffin embedded 266 gastric tissue samples. our study showed that helicobacter pylori have no role peptic ulcer disease, gastritis, congestive gastropathy, esophageal varices and bleeding from esophageal varices in patients with liver cirrhosis. Also shows for the first time that helicobacter pylori downregulates B-catenin and confirmed downregulation of E-cadherin, this explain the mechanism of chronic inflammation and helicobacter pylori in gastric cancer. |
