Abstract

The concept of Health related QOL takes into account patient well being by both the physical and psychological domains.
The Instrument most frequently used for QOL evaluations is the health profile measurement presented as Questionnaire that request the viewpoint of the patient.
Out of many methods used to assess QOL the SF-36 Questionnaire has become an extensively used generic measure throughout the world to collect information from renal patients.
The aim of this study is to measure QOL in Dialysis patients and Renal transplanted Recipients using SF-36 Heath survey
Seventy subjects were included in this study and they were divided as follows:
Group I: Dialysis group, Group II: Renal transplant group.
Dialysis group was subdivided into 2 subgroups: group Ia (HD group), group Ib (CAPD group).
- Group Ia: 30 patients of ESRD 15 males and 15 females under regular hemodialysis, 3 sessions./Week , 4 hours each session.
- Group Ib : 10 patients under continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). 4 males and 6 females.
- Group II: 30 Recipients of living renal transplant of ≥6 months duration 15 males and 15 females.
