Abstract The aim of this study is to present a comparative analysis of the poetry of Dylan Thomas (1914–1953) and Wallace Stevens (1879–1955), with the purpose of showing the development of the two poets. The study shows points of similarity between Thomas and Stevens, with special emphasis on elements that cause ambiguity in their poetry, mythological, symbolical and metaphysical. There is also an analysis of Thomas’ and Stevens’ use of aural and visual imagery and the lyrical elements in their poetry. Moreover, this study analyzes some of Thomas’ and Stevens’ prose, showing the similarity between the poetic styles in their prose on the one hand, and the technical devices used in their poetry on the other hand. |
