Abstract The water circulation of the western mediterranean sea has been determined in both cold and warm periods along the isopycnal surfaces representing both the intermediate and the deep waters the regular formation of the sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTA) and its effect on sea surface circulation has been evauluated the time distribution of SSTA reveals positive and negative anomalies cycles its periods are variedfrom 9 to 11 years these periods coincide coincide with the eleven years sunspot activity cycle. |
