Abstract

Several bronze and white broad broated turkey flocks
various ages; situated in Upper gypt (Assiut and —Wadi —Gidid Governorates) were included in this 2tudy.
a) A total of two hundred fourty ntne oaoes of diff e— rent ages from one—week old poults till more than one—year old turkoy were examined, 92 of them showed lesions varied from s1iht turbidity to heavy easeatian and thiokanin of air—sacs. he picture of air—sacculitis in one—week old turkey poUts was more clear than in older birds, The isolation rate of M. maleagridis was highor than of M. geti— in yotm turkey poults, While on the opposite
side the recovery rato of Uist4 was more higher than that of J, rae1easdio in older turkeys.
2) M. raelearidi was reoovered more from the lower respiratory tract than its upper part in both youn-. ger and older birds.
3) LI. sctic was frequently isolated from sinus exudate of living birds with infootious sinusitis, but the reoyory rate was lower from the tracheal swabs q the same birds • Also 21. cuid4 was iso1aed from the tracheal swabs but to a 1eser extQnt,
4) Both types of . loa ridis and L, were isolated from intorU1e—egs s wcfl a from
pippd embryos, but the rooovory mte of , s— aSswere less than that of L:, neleagridia.
5) For the first time other mycoplasnaa wcre isclatod from turkeys in Upper egypt nnmodg j4. and untypod rn3rcoplqsmc. spoLes. Also , .1l).nonn was isolated.
6) One Aoholoplcwrna (Untyp*d) epooies WEW a1o isolated for the first time in Upper Rrpt.
7) Acccrding t the biochoniical charaetcrizatic’n all rn3rcoplasmo, isolates (256 IO1atOS wore classified)
into three groups:
a) The first gr3u49: which split glucoso but not doe— arboxylate arginiue (141 isolates)
b) The second group: which did not split glucose but decarbozylute arinLno (33. isolates),
a) The third group did with both glucose and argininc (34 isolates),
a> 255 isolates out of 256 isolated otmins Wore son— sitivo to digitanin but only one was resistant and
considered as Uiatypcd acholeplanma.
The grawth—lngibition and growth—precipitation tests was more sensitive for sorotyping oX isolaton and by them (255 isolates) were classified inta127 isolates a M.1sejtioum; 75 isolates as LI. 3 isolates us, 4l9r and 47 untyped isolates.
Tho haemag1utination—inhibition toct was more son— sitivo or detecting Ii. £ Uay& antibodies the slide agglutination test, but in ease of j. melcagridis the groflh—inhibition tost was sensit— ivo than the slide g1utinatIon test.
ii) 1. and i. arids antibodies were detected by the slide agglutinatioaa test from the egg—yolk of freshly laid turkey eggs and embryonic fluid of dead—in shell embryos.
12) In the antibiotic senaitivity tcst against the iso— lutod strains i. ç1lise tiwnn wa sqncitivo to gen— tcnicin; orythromycin, nooxaycin, awl 1os sensitive to apcctinømycin Hclg nitrofurantioii; chiorampheni— aol, while It was resistant to strep$omycin and ty— _losin tartaratQ On the other hand fl. meids wa resistant to difrent dnig and antibiotics as orythromyoin; spoctinpruycin and tyloin tort aroSe; but completely resistant to streptomyoin; while it was consitivo to rifmnpioin; nitrofurantiozi, neomy— cm, kanumycin, tetmcyvline; caid highly sciasitivo to gontcunoin; oxytotrncyolin; amoxyilflu and chiora— mphonicol.
