المستخلص The history of Egypt aquaculture spans a period of some thousand years. taking a look to Pharoes Tempels you will see fish decorated many of tempels walls for many activities and occasions. The organized fish aquaculture has started with the beginning of this century when several aquatic research stations were established to study fresh and saline water aquatic animals and biota in Egyptian environment. As the shortage of food problems increase in developing countries and in Egypt in the same time more attention were given to untraditional approaches to get away from this problem.The population growth rate. which was 1.5 percent annually at the beginning of this century. for a period and then began rising rapidly from the early 1950’s .• reaching a rate of approximately 2.8 percent between 1976 -1986. The problem associated with the rapid growth rate of population is complicated. namely the extreme scarcity of cultivable land relative to people. The goal of this study is to evaluate the aquaculture production from two governorates Kafr-Elsheikh and Damietta as the most representative locations for the activity. The concepts to be studied and discussed in this study are: which inputs are significance in explaining variation in output from varioUs fish farms? Are there economies of scale in the areas under studY and subsequentlY in the aquaculture indusb’y In Egypt? |
