Abstract Three hundred random samples of milk and some milk products including raw milk 75), Damietta cheese (50), kareish cheese (50), cooking butter (50) .nd ice cream (75) were collected from different localities in Assiut city for enumeration and isolation of Aeromonashydrophilaspecies and for detection of their pathogenicity. Aeromonasspecies could be detected using surface plating technique on TSA agar plates, in.35 (46.7%),18 (36%), 38 (76%), 40 (80%) and 35 (46.7%) of the examined raw milk, Damietta cheese, kareich cheese, cooking butter and ice cream samples with average 104,8.5105,8.1 106,8.4 counts of 2.2 x XXX 107 and 3x 107/mJor g, respectively. On SA agar plates using also surface plating technique, Aeromonasspecies could be detected in 34 (45.3%), 13 (26%), 35 (70%), 36 (72%) and 30 (40%) of the examined raw milk, Damietta cheese, kareish cheese, cooking butter and ice cream samples with average counts of2.8 x 105,4.3 X 104, 1.3 X 106, 1.6 X 107 and 5 x 107/ml or g, respectively. Aerotnonasspecies recovered on TSA agar plates could be differentiated into A. hydrophilawhich could detected in 20 (26.7%), 7 (14%), 15 (30%),23 (46%), and 13 (17.3%), A. caviaecould be detected in 10 (13.3%), 10 (20%),14 (28%),13 (26%) and 17 (22.7%), whileA. sobriacould be detected in 5 (6.7%), 1 (2~j), 9 (18%), 4 (8%) and 5 (6.7%) of the examined raw milk, Damietta cheese, kareish cheese, cooking butter. ice cream samples, respectively. |
