Abstract In recent years, researchers paid a great attention for permanent magnet synchronous motors PMSMs for their features, high efficiency, small size, negligible rotor losses and high torque intensity. The permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor becomes good competitor to the Induction motor and synchronous motor after development of permanent magnet technology where some materials as Samarium-Cobalt and Neodymium-Boron¬ Iron are used, these materials provided high flux density and high coercive force. The thesis begins with introducing the PMSMs, its applications and advantages. Then different constructions of these machines are described. After that their transient and steady state mathematical models are derived. The thesis then studies parameters identifications of PMSMs as the motor parameters are not constant during operation; the identification problem is solved using particle Swarm Optimization technique as a fast, high accuracy and good performance technique. Then non linear speed control of PMSMs is conducted using different control techniques begins with classical PI controller then Fuzzy Logic controller and Adaptive Fuzzy controller. Then the motor response using different control techniques are compared to conclude which of them is powerful. |
