Abstract
Presents an elaborate review over the structural, physical and
pharmacologicalaspects of the chosen drugs. The drugs are divided into two categories according to their pharmacological action namely
j32-adrenergic agonists- such as Reproterol 1-lydrochioride, Terbutaline Sulphate and Orciprenaline Sulphate — and f3-iactam antibiotics as Amoxicillin Trihydrate, Cefadroxil and Cefoperazone sodium.
Chapter II:
an up to date review over the literature of the chosen drugs.
Chapter III:
Describes a new method for the analysis of some 13-lactam
antibiotics namely; Amoxicillin Trihydrate, Cefadroxil and Cefoperazone. The method is based on the reaction between the phenolic group present in these drugs and 2,6-dichioroquinone chlorimide reagent, in slightly alkaline medium, leading to the formation of blue coloured products. Different factors affecting the completion of the reaction have been studied.
