Abstract

ًًWater is the Fundamental element for sustainable and integrated development in Egypt. Egypt is facing increasing in water needs, demanded by a rapidly growing population, by increased urbanization, by higher standards of living and by an agricultural policy. Which emphasizes expanded production in order to feed the growing population. At the same time, the available fresh water resources are expected to be more or less the same.
Egypt has reached a stage where the quantity of water is imposing limits on its economic development. Water poverty limit in Egypt was reached in 1997 and this vvaklue might DROP to 720 m3/ capita/year in 2017, which would indicate ”water scarcity”. In terms of water quality, the few data available indicate that there exists a rapid degradation in surface and groundwater quality. Major challenge facing Egypt now is the strong need for more development and efficient management for the available limited water resources to meet the needs of a population growth, especially the river water, the main source in Egypt which should have all over care and attention.
Satisfying future demands in Egypt depends on better utilization and efficient use of present water resources. Optimal water management is an essential prerequisite for sustainable development of Egypt.
The objective of the present study is to find away to develop an efficient management system for the available limited water resources to meet the needs of population growth.
