Abstract -Egyptian U-bolt material in the as received condition has lower ductility than that for both Indian and Yugoslavian U-bolt material. This leads to lower estimated fracture toughness. -The mechanical properties of the U-bolt made in Egypt improved by using processes annealing at 450 C. Specifically for U-bolt made in Egypt as received =27.23 , after process annealing , increased to 59.35 -Processes annealing 450 C, 1h, air-cooling for as received Egyptian U- bolt increased ductility that leads to improving of fracture toughness near that for the other imported U-bolt materials. -As a result of process annealing on the received Egyptian U-bolt, the fracture resistance increased, leading to a raise, in its fatigue life to be very close to these the imported U-bolt. -The received process annealing for Egyptian U-bolt could decrease the fatigue crack propagation during duty which leads to pro-longed life and can be safely used. -The fatigue life of the U-bolt made in Egypt is improved by using processes annealing, such as ( ) for U-bolt made in Egypt as received = cycle, after process annealing ( ), increased to.
