Abstract

- Pd SS ceremony is one of the most ancient ceremonies of Egypt. It was known for the first time from the archaic period during the reign of king Khaskemwy from the second Dynasty and lasted till the time of the Greco-Roman period.
- Temple of Edfu is considered to be the idealistic representation of that reremony because it includes the total number of scenes of that ceremony which are nine in total but not constantly fixed.
- the scenes of foundation are as follows: king leaving his palace going to the temple, stretching of the cord by the help of goddess Seshat, hacking the ground with the help of a hoe, modeling the bricks, laying foundation deposits at the four corners of the temple, pouring sands, pushing the first stone in-front of him with the help of a mortar, purifying the temple with natron and dedicating the temple to its god then finally making offerings.
- the location of that ceremony is not fixed in all temples but hypostyle hall is the most common part of the temple to represent it.
