Abstract Electrodeposition of cadmium alloy coatings have been received a great attention and wide application in many fields due to their high corrosion resistance especially at high temperatures. For this purpose,the present work is conducted to electrodeposit good quality and sound Cd-Ni and Cd-Zn alloy coatings onto steel substrate from gluconate baths. These baths are characterized by their cheapness in addition to their non polluted nature. In order to investigate the electrodeposition of Cd-Ni and Cd-Zn alloys, the electrodeposition of their parent metals, cadmium and zinc was carried out under identical conditions to obtain the optimum conditions necessary to yield good results. The individual electrodeposition of nickel from gluconate bath was carried out previously. |
