Abstract
This thesis includes three chapters : The first of which is a brief review on the cyclic acetals derived from acyclic sugar derivatives. It includes their synthesis and role in organic synthesis as well as assigning the configuration of vicinal diols by El-Ashry shift rule
thr second chapter includes an exploration of the mode of formation of acetals and the regioselectivity of their location as well as their size whether dioxolanes or dioxanes from acyclic c - nucleosides and their precursors.it was divided according to the type of the carbony compound as well as the disposition of the hydroxy groups of the polyo1 derivatives.
