Slime, scales as well as gills were the most contaminated sites. While themuscles and intestine were free from Salmonellas. Two Salmonellae serotypes (4%) were isolated; Salmonella typhimurium was from slime and scales, and Salmonella paratyphi (B) was from the gills. from the public health aspect, the two sakmonellae serotypes isolated were of most importance, Salmonella typhimurium had frequently poisning outbreaks in Egypt, and Salmonella paratyphi (B) is a well known cause of human paratyphoid. It was noticed that the salmonellae serotypes isolated from the bigger and heavy weight fishes (20 : 30cm) but not from the smaller ones. Also Salmonellae isolated from Tilapia nilotica during summar season where the temperature of water ranged between (26.5 - 29.5 C) and the temperature of weather ranged between (35.40 C), that high temperature allow the growth and multiplication of the microorganisms. |
