المستخلص This study is focusing on the role of the most commonly used advanced MR imaging techniques; proton MR spectroscopy, diffusion-weighted imaging and perfusion-weighted imaging for the diagnosis and classification of the most common intra-axial brain space occupying lesions in adults. One of the most frequent uses of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) since its introduction has been in the assessment of the CNS space occupying lesions. Conventional MR techniques continue to have important limitations including; inability to reliably differentiate between brain abscess and cystic or necrotic brain tumor, cannot distinguish high grade from low grade tumors, cannot determine the exact limits of tumor extension, and cannot discriminate between recurrent tumor and radiation necrosis. |
