In this work, there was no significant difference between AR expression in different prostatic lesions (Benign prostatic lesions, PIN and prostatic adenocarcinoma). We did not find any correlation between AR expression and Gleason score or stage of carcinoma. Basal cells of the normal prostatic glandular epithelium uniformly exhibited strong positivity when stained for bcl-2 protein, while the secretory prostatic glandular epithelium was virtually uniformly negative. In our study 70% of the 40 specimens of prostatic adenocarcinoma showed bcl-2 expression with variable degree of intensity We found a highly significant association between Gleason score and bcl-2 expression (Low gleason vs high Gleason P = 0.001). In the current study ki-67 is significantly up-regulated in prostate cancer as compared with BPH and PIN. In this study ki-67 expression was observed in 52.5% of prostatic carcinoma. A significant correlation between ki-67 and Gleason score was observed. In our study a significant association between AR and bcl-2 expression was confirmed, also AR expression showed a significant correlation with ki-67 proliferation index.
