Abstract
2-(Methylthio)pyrimidin-4(1H)-ones 97a-c were synthesized by treatment of substituted 2-thiouracils 87a-c with methyl iodide and sodium hydroxide in water and ethanol at 60oC. Pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dithiones 124 a-c were prepared by treating of 87a-c with Lawesson’s reagent in xylene at reflux temperature (Scheme 32). - 32 hydrate
