المستخلص The study aimed at identifying the relation of the working memory (visual spatial sketch pad and phonological loop) with math learning difficulties between two categories of primary school pupils (normal students and those having math learning difficulties );and identifying the differences in this relation between the two sexes. The sample of the study consisted of 415 students of the two genders (225 normal students-190 students having math learning difficulties); their ages ranged from (9.1 to 10.5) .They were in the fourth grade; and were chosen randomly by computer. A number of tools have been prepared: math achievement test for the fourth grade students; (prepared by the researcher) to classify them according to their achievement levels, tests for measuring the working memory (verbal combination test, verbal analogy test ,test of non-verbal and incombined words, test of visual analogous pictures, test of visual un analogous pictures) (prepared by the researcher). In addition, the researcher used Raven Test of Progressive matrices to measure intelligence. (Standardized by Ahmed Osman) Tools of the study were rationed to an exploratory sample of 349 students who have been chosen randomly by computer. To verify the hypotheses of the study, the following statistical techniques were used: factorial analysis, one way analysis of variance and Post Hoc test. Results showed that there were significant differences between normal students and students having math learning difficulties in the phonological loop and the visou spatial sketch pad in favor of the normal students. Results of the analysis of variance showed that there no significant differences between male and female students having math learning difficulties in the phonological loop and the visou spatial sketch pad. There were no significant differences between male and female normal students in the phonological loop and the visou spatial sketch pad. |
