Abstract SUMMARY: I— Incidence of some pathogenic microorganisms in manure of cattle and sheep. In this study samples of manure were collected from cattle byres and sheep shelters in the vicinity of Assiut Governorate (30 samples from each), and examined for its bacterial flora. The incidence percentage of the isolated organisms revealed from manure samples collected from cattle byres were as follows; E. coli type I 100%, Kiebsiella app, 13.3%, Citrobacter app. 16.6%, Enterobacter app 16.6%, Pr. vu.lgaris 20%, Pr. rettgeri 16.6%, Pr. mirabilis 23.3%, Pr.morganii 10%, Alcaligenes faecalis 26.6%, Pseduomonas app. 3.3%, Providencia app 16.6%, Staph. aureus 4O, Strept. faecalis 86%, Strep. intermediate 83.3%, Strept. faecium 16.6% Gory. ovis 16.6% C. bovis 3.3%, C. renale 10%, C. equi 20%, C. pyogens 23.3%, - Cl. welchii 70%, Cl. sporogens 13.3%, Cl. falla.x 13.3%, Cl. bifermentans 6.6%. Microbiological examination of manure samples collected from sheep shelters revealed the isolation of the following organisms with an incidce of: B coli type I 100%, Kiebsiella app, 20% Citrobacter app, 133%, nterobacter spp 13.3%, Pr. vulga.ris 13.3%, Pr. rettgeri 16.6%, Pr. mirabilis 16.6%, Pr. morganni 3.3%, seudomonas app. 6.6%, Alcaligens faecalis 16.6%, Providencia spp. 30%, Staph. aureus 63.3%, Strept. faecalis 93.3%, Strept. faecium 43.3%, Strept. intermediate 93.3%, Goryn. ovis 33.3%, C. renale 20%, C. equi36,6%, C pyogens 6.6%, C].. welchii 83.3%, 01. sporogens 6.6%, 0].. tertiuzn 10%, Cl. fallax 6.6%, and Cl. bifermentans 10%. Experimentally, the survival period of three pathogenic bacteria namely Sal. typhimuriurn, Coryne— bacterium ovis and Clostridium perfringens in the manure of cattle and sheep were studied. The results revealed that the survival periods of these organisms in manure heap of cattle in both upper and deep layer was as follows: Sal. typhimurium 77 days, 126 days, C. ovis |
