Abstract

1’Iiis work was conducted to study the effect of different conditions of housing md tiding temperature—h timidity in dex, light iillens ily and so LIII d pressure levels iii the different stages of productivity on behavioural and productive performance of laying liens. br Three-identical-battery-cage houses were used for the study. br Experiments concerning the effectiveness of light intensity and sound levels were done in periods when favourable microclimatic conditions were available for the different ages of birds. br I — ‘Sic effectiveness of light intensity on behavioural and br I)rOductive responses: br In these experiments 432-layers were concerned, which represented to 3-age groups (24 weeks, 42 weeks and 65 weeks age). br 1 - First age group: br The results concerning the first age group (24-27 weeks age) revealed that, layers exposed to 10, 50 - 2.5 lux light intensities the plasma corticosteroiie were 37.66; 21.6 and 8.62 (pgIlOO ml plasma) respectively, and fear related hehavioui-al responses were 88.52%, 79.95% and 73.12%, respectively. Preening was not observed at 2.5 lux and pacThg stereotypies were absent at 2.5 - 5 lux light intensities. br Concerning egg productivity and feed conversion, birds kept tinder 10 - 5 lux laid significantly (P -lt; 0.01) more eggs /day than those exposed to 2.5 lux I ight intensities.
