Abstract in this study trials had been done to determine the incidence of lsd virus infection among farm cattle through isolation and identification of the causative virus and demonstration of specific antibodies using different serological tests, serum neutralization test, solid phase ELISA and agar gel precipitation test. The present study was carried out on 119 clinically infected with LSD and 600 clinically healthy in different Governorates at Upper Egypt. It was found that all ages, both sexes and breeds of caTTLE WERE SUSCEPTIBLE TO lsd. The main clinical signs of the disease were pyrexia (40-41 c) followed by sudden apprarance of round circumscribed nodules ranged from 1-5cc) in diameter distributed all over the body, lymphadenitis, oedema of lower hind limbs and ventral part of abdominal cavity. Ocular and nasal discharges were observed, pregnant animal may abort. The detection of the LSD antibodies titre among all examined serum samples were 19.5% according to solid phase ELISA and 18.9% in case of serum neutralization test. The morbidity rate among Nagh-Hamadi (Quena) was 12.9% where in New Vally was 1.96%. |
