Abstract A total number of 190 horses were examined in the present investigation. Carefule clinical examination of the horses revealed that 40 horses appeared clinically healthy and showed no skin leosions, while 150 horses were having various skin leosions with no clinical signs of other diseases. Microscopic examination was done for parasytological examination of the faces, skin scraps for detection of mange mite or dermatophyte and blood samples (for total and differential leucocyte count). Physical and chemical examination of the urine sample using reagent-strip was also done to discarde any abnormelities due to kidneys or liver disfunctions. Biochemical analysis of serum samples include total protein, albumin, electrophoresis and serum level of vitamin E was also performed. br Faecal examination of horses without skin lesions (n = 40) revealed 4 positive cases and these were excluded from apparently healthy control group. Faecal examination of horses with skin lesions (n=150) revealed 27 positive cases. These were excluded from the diseased groups. |
