Abstract
- 73 aim of the study was collect of different paper and cupreous coins from area at Shebein EL – Kom city, Minufiya governorate and determination of microbial loads of these paper and Cupreous coins samples. Samles of coins were collected from local markets I.e, Boucher`s market, vegetable and fruit markets, fish markets, buses and Bakery in summer season of 2008.Bacterial cultures used in this study involved total bacterial count,Bacillus cereus (DSM 315), Staphylococcus aureus (DSM 1104),Escherichia coli (DSM 30083),Entrococcus Sp and salmonela Sp.(DSM 347) which were obtained from Microbiological Resource Center ”MIRCIN” Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams, University, Cairo, Egypt.After the incoubation of the plates at 35◦C for 24 -48 hr. the colonies which appear were counted depending on Microbiological specifications.The obtained results can be summarized as the following: 1)- The rate of bacterial contaminated differed from one region anther and from coin to anther this difference refer to many factors such as the big amount of this currency from one custumer to anther.2)- The maximum value of total bacterial count in coins was in birds markets vegetable and fruit markets.3)- The highet rate of pollution by Staph aureus and E. coli was obtained from Bouchers markets.However, the highest rate of contamination by Salmonella typis and Entrococcus was showed from fish market.74 -(4) – The maximum value of total bacterial count(CFU / CM²) of paper cash money was obtained in birds markets and buses, and the pollution by Staph. aureus was the highet value in super markets. However the high rate of pollution by E. coli also was showed in super markets, mainwhile, the birds markets gave the highest value of pollution by Salmonella typis and Entrococcus Sp.(5)-Results also indicated that total bacterial count in three category of paper cash money (¼,½, and 1pound) was differed from place to place and from category to another one,which Bouchers market showed the highest contaminations of total bacterial count in ¼ or 1 pound.(6) - The highet rate of pollution by Staph. aureus in paper cash money(¼,½, and 1pound) was obtained from fish markets.However, the highest rate of pollution by Bacillus cereus and E.coli in paper cash money (¼, and ½ pound) showed in Boucher`s market, mainwhile in 1 pound was found in vegetable and fruit markets( 7)- Regarding to Salmonella typis contamination, Bouchers markets vegetable and fruit markets and fish market gave the highest pollution in (¼, and ½ and 1 pound), respectively.8)-The highet rate of pollution of Entrococcus Sp. in ¼, ½, 1 pound papercash money was obtainect from vegetable and fruit markets, mainwhile in Boucher`s markets groupe showed with the highest contamination value in 1 pound paper cash money.
