The study was carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, between 1997 and 1999/2000 seasons in clay soil.
Investigations were carried out into the inheritance of some continuously variable characteristics of faba bean.
The inheritance studies were carried out using diallel cross analysis among some genotypes of faba bean. The characters studied showed the existence of important genetic variation in all cases. Significant GCA and SCA effects for all the characters were observed except vicine + convicine content, indicating the presence of additive and nonadditive effects.
In addition, F 2 generation populations corresponding to the F 1 hybrids of the 4x4 half diallel were grown. A wide range of segregation was exhibited.
