Abstract
This research program is twofold: first,integrated characterization of oil shale samples obtioned from the EL-Nakheil phosphate mine in Quseir area from the stand point of benefication. Secondly,a series of laboratory experiments was carried out to study the amenability of this combustible material to the upgrading and the cleaning of this combustible materi9al to the upgrading and the cleaning processes Complete liberation was not achieved .Heavy media separationseems to be feasible. Selectivity towards surfactant was vary low acid leaching would open up potential for more future studies. the TOC has been increased form 20.78 to 29.88 and 34.09wt % by using 5 and 10%HCI,respectively
