Abstract

1- 283 camels were examined for the presence of hudatid cysts after slaughtering at Bani-Adi and Assiut abattoirs in Upper Egypt. Out of this number of the examined camels 69 (24.38%) were found to harbour hydatid cysts in various organs.
2- Lungs and livers were the only organs found to be infested in this study, the incidence of hydatid cysts infestation in camel lungs, both lungs and livers and livers only was 76.81%, 15.94% and 7.24% respectively.
3- Most common shape of collected hydatid cysts from lungs and livers of camels were rounded and unilocular. In lungs, location of hydatid cysts on surface situation was (61.00%) and in parenchyma was (38.90%). In livers, all collected hydatid cysts were surface situation (100.00%).
