المستخلص This study tries to shed lights on the effect of agriculture land holding policy and size of farm on productive efficiency of resources used in Kosia County, also how the increase in rent per feddan leads to an increase in agricultural production. The study has found that productivity ~n land owned farms in different holding categories exceeds that of tenant farms for all crops except for beans and cotton in the first category farms which are less than one feddan. In these farms yield per feddan of beans and cotton in tenant farms exceed that of land lord farms. Crops like beans and cotton need more labour and this ~s available for tenants in farms of the first category. Tenants in farms of the first category use labour as a substitute for capital so these farms are considered labour intensive farming. Also the study has found that return on land from total revenue of each crop exceeds rent of land for crop in spite of the new increase in rent per feddan (22 times land tax). The study alsD has found that as a result of increasing the rent of land, the marginal and sub marginal tenants will leave the land and search for another job because they will not be able to pay the new land rent. New tenants who are able and capable to cultivate the land efficiently will replace them, and this will result in increasing production of land. This will be favourable for the society as it will result in increasing agricultural production of crops. |
