Abstract
The widely accepted goal of study and research ~n the field
of agricultural economics is how to increase the efficiency of
available agricultural input in order to produce the meeded food and other farm out-put without wasting resources. Hence, the required out-put must be produced with the smallest amounts of resources, or the maximum possible out-put must be obtained from a given amount of resources. It is easy to under-stand that, the recent responsibility of agricultural economists lies not only in increasing the efficiency and hence profitability ~n agriculture, but also ~n increasing the efficiency of resources use in all of the society. As agricultural efficiency is
increased, resources may be free from production in agriculture
and used to produce other products or the output
of agriculture
can be increased to meet the needs of an increasing population.
On the other hand, capital as farm input is still little used
and most of the farm production in Egyptian agriculture is mainly
achieved with human recources.
In connection with the important efficiency, and labour
which has a significant item in the total farm cost; especially in non-mechanized agriculture; the present research work has been adopted to treat, examin and analyse the situation of farming labour resources in Assiut Governorate.
