Abstract

As pervious studies on beth henley (1952) have focused on treating her as a Femiist playwrnight. this study proposes that henley’s major contribution to American drama lies in her southem roots and their influence on her plays. henley represents a new generation of southern playwrights who are devoted to keep the southern culture alive on the american stage. her plays are rooted in the southern literary tradition formulated by great southern writers
