Abstract

A brilliant scholar and a critic of great erudition, edward william said is one of the most distinguished intellectuals in the united states today.
born in palestine (1935), and educated in both egypt and the united states, said was able to carve for himself a considerable space in the metropolitan culture of american academia.
an original theorist and preeminent exponent of french thought to the american audience for more than four decades now,
saids critical position has not, however, been adequately researched or assessed.
