Sorghum represents one of the main grain crops in Upper Egypt, whether in terms of its production, or its consumption. However, there is continuous decrease in both of the cultivated area and total production of sorghum.
In connection with the important of sorghum crop in Egypt, the present study has been adopted to examine and
- analyse the situation of this crop in Egyptian agriculture. The study composed of four chapters. The first concerns with production of sorghum and its geographic distribution in the country. The second chapeter deals with the - consumption and different uses of sorghum. The third chapter deals with the economic analysis of production and cost functions of sorghum. The fourth and last chapter concerns with cash and net income of sorghum, as well as discusses other economic factors affecting profetability of this crop during the period of study.
To achieve this objective, the relevant data have been collected from the various issues of the Agricultural Economics Bulliten published by the Ministry of Agriculture, and StatiEtical Year Book published by Center Agency for public Mobilization and Statistics, Egypt.
As far as the method of the research work is concerned, this study is intended to employment mostly the analytical
