Abstract The present study was carried out to investigate the effect Cyclosporin A (CyA) administration on the parotid salivary glands albino rats at both the light and the electron microscopic levels. Thirty adult male albino rats were used. Rats were divided into three equal groups each contained ten rats. group I (Control group): Rats were subdivided into two subgroups: ( Subgroup la: That contained five rats, received no treatment. ( Subgroup lb: That contained five rats, received olive oil daily for 4 weeks. group II (experimental group): Rats in this group received highly therapeutic doses of 40 mg/kg/day of CyA by gastric intubation for 4 weeks. Then they were sacrificed. group III (Recovery group): Rats in this group were treated with similar doses ofCyA as group II for 4 weeks. Then they were left for a recovery period of 6 weeks before being sacrificed. At the end of experimental period, rats were sacrificed by cervical dislocation. |
